David Reeve, CEA, EPC, Hons B.A.

President and Co-Founder Davlyn Financial Services

I started in this business because of my dad. My father was a hard worker. Everyone loved my dad. He worked hard his whole life. His goal was to retire at 65 and then travel. He died at 64 of cancer. As best as I recall, he only had two trips in his whole life. One of those was a trip to Disney in Florida with the family when I was a kid.

My father always felt he wasn’t a success, because he had little formal education, no fancy titles and never made “big bucks”. However, when he passed away, the funeral home had to open all the rooms, and extend their hours for the amount of people who showed up. I never forgot that. The impact he made on people’s lives. My father was the most successful person I have ever known.

I have been an advisor for over 30 years now. I joined this industry because I wanted to help people, like my dad did. So when my wife and I formed Davlyn Financial Services in 2008, we decided that our primary focus to help clients, advocate for them and educate them on financial planning.

David specializes as a retirement income and asset manager for a select group of very successful business owners and professionals who are within ten years of retirement, and who among other things, aspire to a “work-optional” lifestyle.

A graduate of McMaster University (Hons B.A.), I also hold my Elder Planning Counsellor (EPC) and Certified Executor Advisor (CEA) designations and I am currently working on my Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU).

We believe in giving back to our industry and community. I am the most recent past president of the Golden Triangle Advocis (Financial industry association) chapter. I am also currently the SW Ontario Community Leader for MDRT (Million Dollar Round Table). I am also a past president of a Rotary Club and the current president of my local Lions club. My wife and I also support several charities annually.

When I am not working, my wife and I like to travel and spend time with our two daughters (and their families) and our two amazing grandchildren. My other passions are fishing, photography and our dog Gus.
